Mac Problem: Icons on my desktop need multi click to open not one

When i click an icon on my desktop it doesnt open i have to click it more then once and sometimes i have to click rapidly fast and more then once for it to open if you know how to fix it be leave a comment or respond to me A.S.A.P

Double click (quickly) = open

thanks i just started using my mac and i use almost all my icons on the dock so now i using them on my desktop some of them because you helped the reason i didnt know is because i just switched from pc to mac two days ago so im still getting the hang of it thanks!

Windows requires a double-click, as well, unless you changed that to one-click in Control Panel.
