Hello all,

I've been trying to get syncing with my iDisk working, but not had any luck. I open up the .Mac preference pane in System Preferences and click on iDisk and click on Start for syncing.

Nothing happens; I get the moving circle thing (thing you see during the grey screen at boot) to show it is doing something. I assumed it was downloading my iDisk, but I've only used 7MB's of it and it should download that within a couple of minutes.

I've left it for about 10mins and it hasn't done anything yet.

Found the problem for those interested.

iDisk syncing involves making a virtual image of your iDisk on your hard drive. That's fine right? It's what I wanted. The problem comes where the virtual image is actually relative to the storage size of your iDisk, not the actual used space. I was hoping that the iDisk syncing would copy all the stuff on my iDisk and stick it into the iDisk folder on my desktop - and the size of the iDisk folder would be relative to however much stuff you have stored in it.

Not the case unfortunately, and especially since Apple increased the storage space to 10GB. When using iDisk syncing, it creates a 10GB virtual disk (!!!!!) on your desktop. You can change the size of the iDisk easily enough, but it defeats the purpose of having a lot web storage.

I really wish all it did was made a folder with the contents of my iDisk, instead of making a whopping 10GB virtual image!
