Hi. I recently switched my home computer to a Mac about 3 months ago. I work with PCs at work and we use a really good defragging program called Diskeeper, which does an extremely better job than the built in defragmentation software in Windows. My question basically is: Is there an equivalent defragging//disc cleanup program for Mac? Or is such a program not really necessary on a Mac anyway? Thanks for any feedback. =)

Not really necessary, but you can use iDefrag

For disk maintenance, you can check out Onyx

Remember though that iDefrag can only defrag your boot drive by using a Boot Disk, as I know Diskeeper defrags all the disks 'on the fly', while you're working. In any case, it isn't really need for Mac OS X. Even if you're system gets heavily fragmented, the benefit of using a defrag program would give you something like 5% additional speed.

Seriously. Defragmentation software is a waste of money on Mac.
I tried iDefrag and after using my iMac for nearly 6 months, iDefrag showed 0 Fragments.
So until otherwise proven, defrag software is a waste of time on a Mac.
