Mac program to play/import subtitles?

I downloaded a foreign movie unable for purchase in my market and it came with .sub files to accompany it.

I downloaded the program Cellulo but when I import the.sub files, it says the file format is not recognized or something.

Is there any other solution to my problem via the Mac?

I have the files and the .sub files yet...they can't work together.

VLC don't recognize these .sub files either. WTF is going on...

There should also be an .idx file -- use it when selecting the subtitle file in VLC. As a rule, I think, .sub+.idx files are better suited for divx players, whereas .srt files are more useful for VLC/frontrow.
