tominated, sorry nobody joined-it was probably because of the time zone differences and the weekend. I didn't check the forums over the weekend at all. Try again sometime.

screw that. i was waiting for 20 minutes and nobody joined

A few days advance notice is good--gives people more chance to see the note. But sometimes a quick spur of the moment game works out too.

I think it would be better if someone could run a dedicated server (anyone here got more than one mac?) and we post the times and server info in a sticky at the top of the games forum... that means, of course, that an agreement would need to be entered with one of the mods. ;)

That way, everyone could find the server info without digging around through 200 pages of this thread and also we get more people (those who haven't even seen this thread but want to play halo).

I tried to run a dedi, but AFAIK, Mac Halo lacks a dedi option.

Then I tried to run a server with a "dummy cannon fodder" player named "(Server)" but once the match ended it wouldn't restart a new match on its own, unless I missed some option.

So I don't know how to make a Mac run a Halo server without a human tending to it. Tips are welcomed :)

Meanwhile, I'll keep using my spare Mac to host Prey and UT 2004 24/7... starting up again in about a week. (The server is down until then.)

What I do with those is put a suggested time--and time zone--right in the server name. Such as: "MacClan.net SNIPER ARENA with bots - 8pm PDT"

The servers are up full time, but with a suggested time every day maybe a few more people find each other. Now, there's still a need for specific scheduled matches with a SET DATE that people can plan for. That's the only way to be sure of gathering a group.

Good ideas.

Maybe it could work like Dr. Q's Free iTunes thread: the first post gets edited to show the latest info. And the thread could be bumped each time a new game is posted, or else be a sticky.

Should we do that for this thread or start a new one?

I heard from someone that the only way to get a dedi server on Halo is to "rent" space on Bungie's servers.

I'm gonna be real busy from next to week to about the end of July, so I won't be playing much.

Well, it could be a longer thread (the Free iTunes thread is full of comments) just so long as it STARTS with the good stuff in the first post.

Yeah. Next game is this Tuesday at 8:00pm EDT.

:( Won't be able to make that time. Will be on later from 1 am to 3 am EDT (that's 10 p.m. to midnight PDT). I will be playing on one of the two FHOA dedicated servers (IP address is 208.167.249.12:2302 or 8.3.29.15:2302). Both are easy to find just click the server name on the menu, and then scroll all the way to the end. The servers should be one of the last ones. Dunno if these will show up for Demo versions (???).

Hope to see you guys (at least one MR member???) then.

Well, if somebody has a PC and a copy of the PC version, they could do a dedicated Halo server:

Just a thought.

I wouldn't mind fragging with some of you all after next week (so I won't play on Tuesday). I actually was playing it earlier today online. Ah, how I missed Halo...

I'll be done with school, and I suppose I could dedicate some time to Halo before I jump back into WoW for another two months :)

My bro has a copy for our families computer (I get the imac to myself!) so I will try and organise a dedi game
