I kinda like the way iLounge.com is set-up for a mobile forum. It's very minimal and clear. I think MR Forums looks pretty outdated... it would be nice to see a theme that looks like 2008/2009 instead of 1995, but that's just me.

According to the buyer's guide expect an update in 2099, which will be in the form of an additional *future-apple-device* forum. Any updates before that are currently deemed a waste of time and bandwidth apparently. Following the 2099 update, more specifically in year 3047 macrumors are expecting to add a pause button to the forum spy, giving forum members the option to pause the spy from updating hence properly clicking on the post of choice.

I know about the iPhone friendly interface, but it doesn't make clicking those little icons any easier and it looks UGLY-er than the regular site. I keep it on the full site on my iPhone. If someone comes out with an MR app, I'll make the icon for it (light blue with the MR Apple on it)... I don't like black on black like the web-clip icon.

You all really think Apple would allow a rumors site who posts the most up-to-date spy shots and leaks to submit an app??? Riiiight...
It would be awesome though, I too dislike the web format. Macrumors mobile suits me just fine for now though, I don't care to zoom in. I just don't like how it only shows ~5 posts at a time on the thread you're viewing.

A new app came out called blackhole forums. The site uses vbullitain so this can be done. I emailed the company that made it asking if they could implement macrumors into another app exactly like it.

By they way, the app is free

I suppose it is worth copying in arn's reply to this topic in here

hey guys.

If we did this, I'd want MacRumors to control the app as an "official" version -- to avoid conflicts down the line. If there are any developers who thinks they could do this sort of app for hire, contact me.

Thanks

Great thread.

We are in contact with Arn in reference to a Macrumors iPhone App. Ours is available right now in the app store:

http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=296982144&mt=8

If you look at the screen shots, you'll see the difference between the App and browsing the forums (www.blackholeforums.com) normally.

We are working on the next version which will be much better, and more functional. In the meantime, we are looking at every way possible to make the macrumors experience faster and better for you guys, just hang in there and feel free to give us your suggestions and questions. We just want to make sure everyone is on the same page, since we won't do anything without Arn's approval.

Thanks

That looks great (iTunes Screen Shots), and I would be willing to pay for a MacRumors optimized version seeing as I spend most of my internet time here. A dedicated and MacRumors controlled App is a great idea, with lots of promise and I feel would be a great success!

That looks good. Just make sure you don't too many forums. Before we know it, hundreds of forums will be on the App Store.

It would be nice if vBulletin made software for this, and then we could just enter the forum URL, have a plugin on the main site, and viola.

MacRumors?
The names just says it.
It's a site about rumors on Apple's products.
So that's most likely why Apple wouldn't allow it.

It's not like we aren't allowed to go to MacRumors on the iPhone. What's the difference?

The difference is that Apple does not control what goes on in the internet, but they have complete control over what is in the App Store.

Maybe you could give this app a different name, and fool Apple? They are obviously really bad at overlooking apps, since so many of them are complete crap.

This is kind of off topic, but whatever. I have one little problem with the iPhone version of MacRumors, whenver I click on the iPod and iTunes forum, I can't see any of the threads.

I agree to I think there should be a mac rumors app without a dought. Why don't someone get onto it and make one
