As soon as it boots up it goes right to the screen saver and it asks for a password and noone has a clue what it is how can i get this fixed?? I dont want to format it cause then i might as well throw it then. I want all the games i had on it. Can anyone help me save this thing????

I assume you have system 7 on there?

Try holding down the SHIFT key at startup, that will turn of the extensions. i.e. screen saver loading and should get you in there to disable it

Hold down SHIFT, turn it on,

wait till the "Welcome to Macintosh" screen disapears

then it should loadup without the extensions

you get the ? disk icon when holding down shift key?

but without shift key it boots normally?

you may want to let it get to the happy mac icon, then hold down shift

The other thing that comes to mind is if you have a boot floppy you can stick that in and boot it from that, rather than the internal HD

It of course shouldn't matter, but you are using the shift key below the caps lock?

I'm about at the limit of my knowledge from what I remember about these sorry.

Maybe someone else can jump in with some ideas?

Seems odd that it will not boot without extensions, or if it is getting to that point even?

You can't just turn it on..........then continually move the mouse around and around and around and around?
    To stop it coming on?
