The only difference that I see is that Linux snobs tend to be stereotypical pimply-face cretins with shirts buttoned to the top with no tie, members of a local Dungeons and Dragons guild, have no girlfriends, and think they know everything. Mac users tend to be productive members of society, who dump girlfriends because they HAVE a PC.

I think the MS guy couldn't get it to boot and finally had to go into "Safe Mode". Then she contracted a virus and there was a lot of "spyware" involved.

There's a real problem with "pop-ups," or lack thereof. ;)

(yeah, ok, I know it's pretty bad).

The right tool for the job..

Given a choice between being stuck in a room with Linux or Mac snobs, I'd pick Mac. Reason: Although both would be annoying, they'd probably smell a lot better. I remember some idiot coming into the lab and asking me when I was going to install Linux on my PB, saying I need to "free" it. Then he got into a big huff over proprietary software and DRM and stuff. Doesn't this guy have something better to do with his time? Like get a girlfriend, or jump off a cliff?

Windows Snobs: - Crap OS, crap hardware.
Linux Snobs: - Good OS, crap hardware
Mac OS Snobs: - Good OS, good hardware

I think that pretty much says mac>linux>windows in the best way possible. Mac snobs are also the only ones with valid arguments, unless it's a linux vs a windows snob :p :D

I'm not surprised the results are a little skewed. That said I too would like to be a room full of mac snob, because when I think of linux snob I think of someone who looks like Professor Frink

uh, macs are now using the same "crap" hardware the rest of the consumer pc industry is using.

hmm this is an example post of why I think Mac snobs are the worse.

Linux snobs chance are good that they are running on hardware that is by far better than than apple's hardware. Same goes for most of the true windows Snobs. Reason for it is those 2 groups build there own rigs and the hardware quality general amoung the best and above the quiallity apple uses. Now compared apple hardware to dell hardware it is another story.

As for the OS's not going to agrue on that one.

I wouldn't go that far - Apple hardware is generally above-average. But the statement that Linux users use crap hardware is even more absurd, since linux runs on everything, from the worst $299 Dell turd to the multi-bajillion dollar corporate/universty rigs. Of course in my case he is right, since my linux box is a 700MHz Celeron.

I liked how you used a picture of a 4 year old Dell laptop to compare against the Mac.

Yup, this thread helps figure out which snobs are worse! :D

Well if it wasn't for the iSight, that Apple laptop could be anything made since January of '03 (has it been that long?).

Mac snobs. At least they'll help someone become a Mac snob, but Linux snobs seem to consider it a right of passage to learn it all yourself.

I heartily endorse every word in these 2 statements.

I'd rather be in a room full of Linux snobs. Because then I can convert them. And if they don't convert, then I will DESTROY.

My kind of thinking....just to hear all the linux-es dicuss the root, RPMs n stuff and never want to help....bring a lot of migrain pills.

Bless

Uhh, yeah:

that's just the plastic covering. the cpu, chipset, video chip, hard drive, etc. are the same.

i guess i would choose the linux snobs.... after all you just have to throw into the ring which distro is the best or kde vs. gnome / emacs vs. vi and watch the hilarity unfold

(actually personally i'm using linux too thou not for personally stuff mroe for programming etc.)

Mac Snob main because we could talk about Macs, but he/she can't be a Mac Snob who is snoby against other Mac user! only against PC user:rolleyes:

I would have a respect for the Linux snob because she/he uses OpenSource OS, and i believe that OpenSource is very good!

Snobs of any kind just plain suck. Nothing, no measure of intelligence or amount of money entitles anyone to think they are better than anyone else. That just isn't true. We are all just as vulnerable to the same diseases, we all bleed is cut, we all wipe our asses after crapping (most of us, anyway), we all breath oxygen and would die without it, etc etc. Linux, OS X, Windows XP, whatever OS or computing system we choose does not make us who we are, nor is it a reason to look down on others. Just my take.

there is absolutely nothing wrong with intel hardware. except that most computers are kind of ugly and utilitarian.

i have a soft spot in my heart for sun's mid-90s hardware asthetics.

macs look nice but their insides are nothing special. i buy apple hardware for the os.
