Hi guys, just got a Sony HVR A1E cam and shot some video, plugged it into my mac and nothing it coming up? (yes it's switched on and on play/edit)

Any help? New to this all!

It's not going to pop up like an external drive. You have to have a video application open (iMovie, Final Cut, etc.,) to interface with the camera.

hey, thanks for the reply!

Would something like iMovie be ok? If so, how would I get the footage off the camera?

James

its a tape - you need to 'capture' the tape

its in hdv or dv

hdv needs to be converted to pro ress - imovie will handle this when u plug it in

its roughly 1gb per min for pro ress so make sure u pick an external drive to capture onto - and edit on this too.

dv is 1gb per 5mins

Ahhhh, I see.

How would I go about doing this? I.e, what do I open when in imovie etc?
