On the apple store you can choose to buy for 'education' and it gives you a list of the options (university, higher education establishment or any other teaching establishment).

Are the prices cheaper for the university option? I'm able to get a family member (nursery teacher) to buy for me, so i can still get the offer as she is 'staff at any level', but i wondered if i could get more of a discount if i chose the university offer (which i can't check as you need to be connected to the university intranet).

If i walked into an apple store and said i was going back as a mature student (i've already graduated), would they ask anything to prove this was the case or would they just give me the discount without asking for proof? And is the discount more for the higher up the education foodchain you go?

As far as I know, the education discount is the same regardless of what level of education you are going to, employed at, etc.

The discount is much bigger from the Higher Education store and you get a free warranty extension to 3 years as well. So no need to buy AppleCare.

Only UK students, nowhere else as far as I know. I wrote a guide here.
