Apple used a new Final Cut beta for the purposes of its March 8th presentation and gave the beta to some of the people who have reviewed the Mac Studio. This suggests that the beta will go to final release fairly soon.

Recent discussions on the Blackmagic Design forum provide credible grounds to believe that a new release of DaVinci Resolve, further optimised for M1 chips generally and for the Max and Ultra in particular, is also coming.

Apple also made it clear during the March 8th presentation that a new Mac Pro is in the works. There's speculation about the upcoming Mac Pro, but it's just that, speculation.

There are two upcoming events that could be windows for software and/or hardware announcements: NAB from Saturday, April 23 to Wednesday, April 27, and Apple's World Wide Developer Conference from Monday, June 6 to Friday, June 10.

Perfect post for a site called MacRumors...ROFL!

:)

It's pretty safe to say that the Final Cut release is coming soon, and there's good reason to believe that Blackmagic Design is in the process of updating DaVinci Resolve with Max and Ultra in mind. A Blackmagic representative on the Blackmagic forum has essentially said so. Blackmagic has aggressively pursued M1 optimisation from the day that the first chip was released.

The release date for the new Mac Pro, and its base configuration, are decidedly speculative. Apple is pretty backed up with Mac Studio orders, which may be a factor in setting a Mac Pro release date. However, note that for U.S. customers the 2019 Mac Pro is made in Texas, not in Asia.

The guess is FCP update at NAB and Mac Pro at WWDC.

As I said in post #1, there was good reason to believe that Blackmagic was working on a new iteration of DaVinci Resolve.

It released DaVinci Resolve 18 as a public beta this afternoon. I imagine that we'll see tests with the Mac Studio, including comparisons with the Final Cut Pro update, over the next few days.
