Mac Studio M4 Max: Still on Sequoia... Do I need to upgrade to Tahoe?

Personally I'm happy staying current, some people like to stick on one version as long as possible. IMO that just makes it all that much harder when you finally ARE required to upgrade; by staying current I deal with any little issues as they come up & then it's done.
But that's just one person's option. My needs are not your needs - you need to decide what's best for you.

Do you need to? If all your software is working and you don't need any of Tahoe's features, then no.

On my M2 Ultra Studio I stayed on Sequoia .6 all the way through until Maxon officially blessed Tahoe for C4D 2026 last month — same reason as always, waiting on Redshift to support the new Metal driver. Adobe was about six weeks behind Apple's GM.
If you're on stock apps and Sequoia is solid, no urgency. Tahoe's Metal 4 stuff is genuinely nicer on M4 Max, Preview and Mission Control feel snappier, but nothing that changes daily life. The one real gotcha I hit was audio: two of my legacy AU plugins needed a re-scan after the update because Tahoe tightened the plugin loader. Boring but worth knowing if you rely on old paid AUs.

If Sequoia still works for you, then there is no need to update it right now, as Apple are still providing security updates for it, once they stop providing security updates, I would suggest you probably should update at that point.

I am running Sequoia on my 2022 M1 Studio Mac and it's the most stable I have experienced.
Keeping her on 15.7.5 as long as I can.
But next month I am getting the M5 Studio so will see how Tahoe works since I wont' have the option to get Sequoia......🙁

Still 12 months of updates for Sequoia (once GG is released)…… 😉
I will be staying on it until SU stop with my M2 Studio.
