it would suck to be someone who spent $13,000 on a mac pro ? well i suppose if you have that much money you probably wouldn't care or maybe you just have more money than brains.
Not gonna lie, the studio displays are so low on the picture that it’s hard to watch. Why these stands are so far from the eyes level?

just pay another $400 to be able to adjust the height, duh.

it's Apple and incase you hadn't noticed they will cut the most basic **** out and ask you to pay stupid prices for it. a glorified matte display? that'll be $300. want to adjust the angle and height of your display? $400 please and thanks.

Again ???? If you are a video professional then can you ever have something that is faster than you actually need?

If the computer is lag-free then that means you actually need that speed and performance.

If you aren't a creative professional then stick to a lower spec Mac - that's the whole point of the Studio.
That is why the MacBook Air is the number 1 selling Mac. 80+% of users do not need anymore power than the Air and it is the cheapest way to be a cool kid and have a “Mac”.

Apple tries to justify the price by comparing it to what now looks like very overpriced intel hardware. Thats probably the best argument right there. But at its core, compared to the case, CPU and cooling system of an M1 mac mini that is $700, Apple is saying that an M1 Max is worth $1,300 over the price of a base mini for having twice the amount of aluminum, metal, and silicon. How are the M1 chips cheaper than intel when Apple commands such a high price for them? How many hundreds out of that $1,300 is profit and how much is CPU cost? I don't think intel was charging that much. They surely arent being sold on how much more they cost to produce, they are being priced by how much you think they are worth compared to other Apple products. How much more profit is Apple making out of each unit, double from before? Seems like it.

The M1-Max Studio costs the same as the Mac Mini if you were able to upgrade the Mini to the same specs.

Not true the m1 is enough to edit 4k video fast this ultra is over kill even Pixar can live with making movies before it
Lol. You can’t be serious. I feel like you have zero understanding of the industry. Pixar isn’t using MacBooks to make movies. They would use high-end workstations for production and utilize render farms to actually render their 3D frames. The M1 Ultra is beastly but doesn’t come close to the hardware involved in a real, high-end studio. I have a workstation rig with an i9 and an Nvidia 3090 and I still feel like it could be faster, especially for 3D.

Overkill is relative. I’d avoid sweeping language like that. The M1 Ultra isn’t enough for my line of work. However, it’s enough for a lot of people. And too much for some. It’s not as simple as you make it sound.

I find it amazing that on tech enthusiast sites like this there are always people claiming that no-one could ever need performance like this and what we have now is perfectly fine for all use cases.

Lets be clear, you can't know what every persons use case is and someone who wants extra performance does not need to justify it to you.

After owning Macs for a few years I'm now back to being 100% PC but even though I don't intend to buy a Mac again I love to see how Apple are pushing the performance with their chips as it will lead to their competitors needing to do the same, which is good for everyone....or should we tell Intel, AMD and Apple to just shutdown their R&D divisions because we really don't need any more performance!?

I mean, you know the Apple Wheels alone cost a whopping $699 before tax.

i'd be tempted to buy a mac studio if it had cute lil wheels like that. apple can have my money.
I agree. The functionality itself does not seem bad. Imagine Mac Studio rolling around the room with the wheels on. Now, that’s a heck of a computer.

Can you imagine how easy it will be to plug in the wires and all the external ports?

Doesn't surprise me. But I'll probably still get the M1 Max model. I might even start making more 4K videos on my iPhone SE and edit them on the Mac Studio, as I'd assume the editing and rendering speed will be just like editing 1080 footage on my M1 MacBook Air, which is already very impressive.

Right? No one bats an eye at someone choosing the M1-Max MBP over the M1-Pro, but choosing an M1-Max desktop over an M1 desktop, which is a larger performance jump, is all of a sudden crazy. LOL

If you’re into rendering ANYTHING (3D or video) the top spec Ultra Studio will still keep you waiting a long time.
While it’s the fastest Mac to date, you’ll still be waiting and waiting and waiting for rendering to finish.

Bottom line: It’s not fast, just faster.
