So I'll be ordering my MBP sometime this weekend and I'm kind of in the dark on how to go about moving my things from our family desktop (late 2007 iMac) to my new laptop.

I need to be able to select the specific data I want to transfer (like I don't want all the iTunes music, just some... I don't want the same desktop or preferences). Can you do that with a Mac to Mac transfer? Also, would it be any different to use my Time Capsule to put my stuff on my MBP?

I could just use kind of a run through on how to do this efficienty and without any mistakes that could cause me trouble.

edit: also I don't want to MOVE my stuff, I want to COPY it so I still have it on the iMac.
