This may have been asked before and if so please direct me accordingly. I have just purchased a new Imac 24" 3.06 Ghz and would like to network it to my PC however there is only one ethernet outlet on the Mac so how can I run a network cable to my PC and connect my Mac to the net at the same time with only one ethernet outlet? Use firewire, ethernet switch, multiport modem or a combination of any of these? My PC and external HD are also firewire 400 where as the IMAC is firewire 800 so clearly I also need to use an adapter cable for firewire transfer. ::confused:?

Since you have two computers, I assume you have some type of home network (a wireless router, or a wired switch?). If you do, then the two computers are on the same home network, and hence should be able to talk to each other.

There are other guides available that tell you how to set this up in Windows and in Mac, so they can share with each other. Google it.
