Hey there

I have been using the option to unlock may Macs with my Apple Watch since day 1 I got the watch. However, since I updated to watchOS 6, this stopped working across all of my Macs (iMac Pro, 2015 iMac, 2013 rMBP) and it's always the same behaviour: When the lock screen pops up, I can see "Unlocking with Apple Watch" (don't know the exact words) for like a tenth of a second before the password field shows up.

I tried to deactivate/activate the Unlock function in the Mac preferences but also this does not work. Also the only online resource for a solution did not work (deactivate unlock with watch, reboot both Watch + Mac, reactivate unlock)...

Any help?

BTW: I am on the latest operating systems on both the watch and the Macs.

I update to WatchOS 6.0.1 on my Series 4 last night and just unlocked my 12" MacBook without any issues.

I find it weird that there are not many other people having this problem and i have issues on all my 3 macs. :/ perhaps I should contact Apple.

It seems to be very 50/50 when it works and doesn't. It stopped working on my Series 0 watch consistently. My Series 5 watch did for awhile then didn't for a day or two and now does work again.

I had this issue on and off, seems that macOS updates disable it, that’s what I’ve seen several times now

Mine works fine, but remember both the Mac and the watch must be on the same Wi-Fi connection. Once I had this problem because the Mac was on my 5 ghz connection and the watch and phone were on my 2 ghz conneced to the same router.

Mine sometimes doesn't work, but I always attributed it to the weak-ass Bluetooth antenna in the 2018 Mac mini.

So, a lot of things changed. I think I had to re-enable it and I did have a hiccup with it on my S3 but got it working by re-enabling.

Then I got an S5 and it worked great.. aweseomely.

Then Catalina came out and it's all over the System Preferences allowing me to double click on the watch to approve changes on the Mac.. excellent!

I like the MacOS / watch integration. I wish Apple would allow the watch to input the admin password when carrying out tasks that require the password.
