LOL !

why? i've noticed that mac users are emotionally attached to their used macs.

ive been trying to buy a used mac and the prices are inflated. im guessing it is due to sentimental attachment, even though they have moved on and bought new macs.

they try to sell their old macs for wayyyy too much.

lets discuss.

Quality has a higher resale value

What I have seen has nothing to do with quality. Here resale macs are retarded. For the same or a couple hundred dollars more you can buy a new refurbished mac. I wounder if they get sold. If so there are many gullible people out there.

LOL@ resale value.

im still seeing G4 /5 being sold for 600!!

those are pretty much obsolete. come on now. lets be real about this. lets take the emotion out of it and deal with the specs only. lmao.

Items are only worth what people are willing to pay for them
If these items are still being sold at premium prices, then they are worth it to the purchaser

Just because you are unwilling to pay the price does not mean the price is inflated

Beauty is always in the eye of the beholder

If it doesn't sell, they will lower the price. I recently sold my 3 year old MB for $600. This was a lot more than similarly spec'd PC laptops of the same vintage were going for (generally $450-$500) so the market works, just not the way you want it to.

finally someone that sees the big picture.

It...*sniffle* always chokes me up when I..I...talk about my Media Access Control.....sorry I get so emotional about it. But for some reason when I tried to resell it the guy told me he could just spoof it.....:'( </tears>

Many people who can't afford to buy a not so common item new want a still nice and usable second-hand unit.

Old PCs are junk that nobody wants.

Fixed that for you

thanks. at least you have a sense of humor. lol.

anyway. i trully think the price is inflated due to emotional attachment ...hmmm . emotional economics??

esp G4, G5

they are dinosaurs!! but look at craigslist and you would think its new technology for the price ppl are selling them for.

the all alum MBP... ppl still want upwards of 1000.
they are emtionally attached!!

geez.

geez.

Then don't buy it. I still fail to see what the problem is. If people can't sell and need the money the prices will come down. If not, its the price the market will bear. Nothing to do with the sellers emotional attachment.

I definitely agree with you. Ask how many people would spend $800 on a used, perfectly functioning, dented, Macbook.

I dont think it has anything to do with sentimental attachment, but more to do with the current market. It is a well known fact that Mac's retain a lot of resale value. Since people know this they are going to inflate the price and try to get as much as possible... as long as there are people out there willing to pay this much you will always see the prices inflated. supply and demand also plays a role, do a search on ebay for a laptop and you get 10,000 hits for HP, Dell, Compaq, Sony etc... and maybe like 2,000 hits for Apple laptops, so naturally which ones will sell for more?
I think you are looking at it from a psychological point of view when you should be looking at it from an economic point of view.

The Mac Pro is too expensive, the Mac mini is too small.

Hence also Mac users that already have a new machine, but want a cheap server.

geez.

i dont think its emotional.

i recently sold my 13 in alum macbook (oct 2008 release) for $1000 on ebay. i was expecting it to fetch only around 800 considering the refurb store had them for around 1100 but i guess thats what people are willing to pay for them.

as long as people are paying the price then there is no need to change it.

if its too expensive for you then dont buy it

Nothing to do with the sellers emotional attachment.

i disagree.

everything to do with it.

whats funny are the ads."i thought it will be cool to own a mac" but now they are selling it...

if that doesn't scream emotional attachment i dont know what does.

fyi im selling a G4 mac mini on ebay right now, i started it at $1 with no reserve.

lets see how much it goes to.. i really dont care how much it sells for. and for the record this is a machine that was used til november 2009.

hence me coining the phrase emotional economics

lmao

I think you're wrong and that's that.

who cares. if you cant state your reasons clearly then you have nothing to say. i said lets discuss. ive given examples and reasons why. all you have to say is im wrong. LOL
