Mac woes with Microsoft Word

So first I downloaded Word For Mac. Hate it. Just as laggy as the last time I had tried it a couple years and a previous version ago.

But I had downloaded Windows through Bootcamp several months ago (after three days of trials and tribulations). So I thought I would try running Word through Windows. For a minute there I thought I was a genius. No lag on typing or scrolling. Seemed to work beautifully. Until it didn't. I discover entire blocks of text just disappear. And you can't even get it back by putting the mouse over it.

I've played around with settings but nothing doing. Now I don't have the official version of Windows with a product key. I'm considering trying that...but that will cost me over $100 and I'm not even sure if it will work.

Anyone else encounter something similar?

If you downloaded bootleg software, you get what you paid for. It might even have a virus. Word should not be laggy in either the Mac or PC versions. I have run the Mac version for years with no problems.
