I agree it is hard to change your mindset when you move over from Windows but as long as you are careful and watch what you are doing--especially when it comes to using your admin password--you will be fine. I do nothing special to my iMac and it runs great now just as it did 3 years ago--no malware to slow it down. You just have to get away from thinking Windows and think OS-X--just be sure to keep track of what is going on in the OS-X world here and on other Mac blogs just in case something malicious does come into play.

Thanks for the links, and I will keep an eye out for the possibility of malware in the future. :)

It has Tiger installed. Isn't Tiger also an OS X?

As long as Word files can be transferred over to the Mac, it doesn't really matter which office software is installed, I can learn to work with it.

It’s here! It’s here! It’s here! It’s here!

It looks like a nice machine. It’s running OS 10.4.11, and isn’t as hard to figure out as I expected. The DVD player works, it has Microsoft Office installed, and I’m supposed to be getting paperwork together for a tax appointment, but will probably be messing with the Mac instead.

The delivery person left it in my driveway instead of on my nice big covered porch, so the box was coated with ice. I let it warm up a bit, then tried it out. :D
