I got an email the other day saying iunitek will get a shipment in on 4/30 and it would ship on 5/3...I guess that remains to be seen

Honestly, I have both the apple and mcally and I prefer the apple one big time.

The mcally one is fragile not sturdy at all, and gets dirty too easily.

Thanks for reassuring me for the right choice :)

I also have both. Never going back to the apple one. I like the look and feel of the macally much more. It also doesn't get dirty like the Apple one. The only thing better of the apple is the grip, because it gets over the bezel. But it's exactly this, that destroys the look of the iPad...

I sure hope they make the black version available for purchase in the USA.

For those that have had your cases for a few weeks now, are you still liking it? Have you found anything that turned out to be annoying or caused you to stop using the case?

I still love it.

The biggest thing I like is when I fold the cover back while I'm using it, I'm seeing the WHOLE iPad screen just as if the device were naked. Easy to clean off, no "sleeve" parts to trap dust, and it's very sleek and slim.

When I had it in the Incase Convertible, it just felt bulky and not like the sleek device it is. Of course, it's more cushion and protection, so it depends on what you are looking for.

The only negative to the Macally for me, so far, is the cover. I wish they would've had a harder insert in there. It feels like cardboard and is a little flimsy. But it's not a show-stopper and still works great.

Thanks, exactly what I wanted to hear! I have my pre-ordered at J&R, just need them to get some back in stock now! :(

I agree with being able to see the whole iPad screen and not having something trap dust. I have the Belkin Grip Vue and it's very nice, but I constantly have to take it off to clean off the dust that's accumulated under the lip which I'm afraid will eventually mess up the edge of the screen.

Can't wait!

Got mine today and love it. Originally, I thought that I would remove the iPad from the case and charge using the dock but now I think I am just going to return the dock. I found that the placing the iPad in the dock was difficult and not as easy as I expected mainly because you need to align the dock port with the dock. The docks for my phones cradle the entire phone so it is very easy to match up the charging ports. My only concern with the macally case is keeping the inside cover clean. I will try to place a napkin down before setting it on tables at my starbucks.

Where did you order it from, and when did you place the order? I've got a pre order in with Amazon, but I've seen no indication of when they'll be shipping.

J&R. Got in just before they were backordered a week ago. I too ordered via Amazon but got impatient and canceled my order. Good luck

My Macally Bookstand is slowly falling apart, and I've had it about two weeks. The binding portion is separating from the plastic, and because of that, the whole back is coming apart from the plastic back. I've contacted Macally, but they've been slow to respond. Unless this is isolated, my search for the right cover continues.

Sorry to hear that

But, I had it for two weeks too, and no signs of wear yet, what's your using habit? Do you lay it flat for heavy typing? Or do you handle it by the front cover often? I carefully examined the back part, looks like pretty sturdy, the hard plastic is hold by the suede and the microfiber on two sides, if the glue holds, neither part should come off by itself however you pull the binding/hinge area, would you post a pic? Thanks! I hope they replace it for you soon, please let us know how it come about.:confused::

Finally got this case in the mail today after the backorders. So far I love it. The biggest thing for me is the complete open face. I hated the apple case because dust would get stuck around the edges, and how difficult it was to remove the iPad. With this bookstand case, it's much easier to keep the face of the iPad clean. I just have to add an anti-glare power support to finish the combo. When used as a stand in landscape mode it is definitely much more stable than the wobbly apple case. The leather strap is somewhat annoying but I can get used to it. Hopefully it holds up ok. I would love a black version as well.

Grrrr, does anyone have any tips on where I can order this case that has them in stock?

I ordered mine from J&R last week and they are still backordered. I've checked Amazon, Macmall and a few other's and nothing! There are some sellers on eBay, but the are all selling for around $54.

Has anyone else who has ordered from Macally's site (iunitek) subsequently been notified (within the last 7 days) by their credit card company of fraudulent charges against the card that they used to place that Macally order?

for the first time ever, my card was fraudulently charged (and taken care of by my CC company). It happened to be on the same day that Macally was to charge and ship my bookstand case.

I'm not accusing Macally of anything, but suspect that perhaps their ecommerce system was compromised.

I take my iPad a lot of places—it's become an integral part of my activities. With that being said, that's why I got the case. It's not babied per se, but I certainly treat it well. In terms of use, I quite frequently tuck the leather strap in to use the keyboard angle, or the upright angle ('specially in bed). I also use it flat.

I received an email from Macally 5 days after my initial one, and it's been 4 days since I responded, and nary a peep. I'm gonna call 'em today.

Big pic below, links to the individual ones follow.

Its probably natural to see this kind of wear over time, but certainly not this amount of time, if i saw that i would think you had it for like a year/year and half.

I returned mine yesterday to J&R. I personally like the apple case much better.I think its better looking and sturdier. I was also concerned that the plastic corners holding the ipad would become looser over time. So far any dust/dirt comes off easily with a slightly damp towel.

Yea I agree. Looks quite bad and has me thinking of canceling my order with them. First off, it was said to ship the day after I had ordered. 3 days later with no shipping notification, I called and apparently they "are getting them in today"

Two days since that phone call and still no shipping notification. I almost want to call and cancel based on principle... and now these images. Not a good feeling.

OMG. Don't deal directly with MacAlly...

Awful customer service. They lied saying they had it in stock one day. Told me it was shipping another day and I JUST called... same ignorant worker... and now she is saying the ETA on the product is May 14th. WTF?

Canceled that sh*t.

That's what happened to me. I ordered mine on 4/27 because they claimed that it was in stock. Was notified that it was actually out of stock and that they will have more on 4/29 and ship out on 5/5. 5/5 came and went... no product shipped and a fraudulent charge for $2400 against my credit card.

Does it say what the fraudulent charge was from? I'm going to call amex after work to make sure they canceled my order as they told me I'd get an email confirmation, yet still no email.

I don't understand why some companies don't realize some of the worse PR comes from bad CS.

Talked to MacMall, and the customer service rep is putting in an order for me, so I can get another Bookstand. Here's to hoping that there's no problem in getting a new one, and that there's not a problem with the new one, too.

It's not confidence inspiring though, to have it fall apart so quickly. How's it holding up with everyone else?

I'm selling my bookstand case, it's only been used for 1 week. Send me a pm if interested, asking same price I paid, $49.
