Macbook 1,1 CCFL backlighting

I was reunited with my Macbook today, bought it new then sold it to a friend and bought it back. I have two questions regarding the backlighting.

1. I noticed the LCD looks a little dim. How difficult would it be to replace the CCFL backlighting?

2. I prefer the cool look of LED backlighting. Is there a retrofit LED backlight available? From my understanding the LCD is edge-lit from the bottom.

Replace the entire LCD not just the CCFL bulb. I'm sure LED is out if the question, as far as I know.

Why replace the entire LCD when just the backlighting is dull?

LCD's are cheap now and replacing the CCFL is a pain (you still have to remove the LCD and tear the LCD apart).
