In 2003 I got this Dell 300M, 2.9lbs, was super light in an era where most laptops were 5lbs for $1,359.18 then sold it 5yrs later for $300. Fast fwd today, I got a rMB 2016 m7 for $1684. Let see what 2029 devices will look like.

I would have expected much more of a weight savings over this number of years.

Interesting regardless though.

I actually had one of these Dells in a similar design, but not the 12".

The weight savings got converted into extra battery & being thinner. Apple could have shaved off more and make it 1.5lbs, but then you won't have 10hrs of battery.

Hardly the MacBook has a smaller battery technically lol
