Hi everyone,
I'm undecided between MacBook and MacBook Pro (no touchbar). I know that are two different laptops but their pros and cons put me in doubt.
I'm not a power user, I don't do photo editing or things like that, so core m3's performance are good even for my professional usage (HR management) and I really love the fanless architecture. So, why am I considering the MBP?
These are my main questions: do a larger screen (1.3"), larger trackpad and better (?) keyboard make productivity more comfortable or the differences are minimal? Even if core i5 is too much powerful for me, could be a more wiser choice in the long term (I'm planning to buy a laptop that will be my only pc for the next 3/4 years)? Do you think these questions are reasonable, or can I buy the MacBook without regrets?
Thank you :)

I've had both the 11" MBA and the 13" MBP and I'm a sometimes designer who sometimes edits audio.

There's nothing I do that can't be done on either machine, but the retina screen has made a huge difference in eye strain.

My parents, who didn't believe the retina screen was worth it, recently went shopping for an iMac replacement and chose the retina model even though it was a little more than they had planned on spending.

Besides that, for the stuff you're doing, either should be fine.

The screen sizes are only marginally different, as are the specs. That is why so many struggle with the decision. You can always plug one or the other into an external monitor making the screen equal if you are home or work.

Travel wise, the 12 is a dream. So light, you have to check if you packed it in whatever you carry. If you will be taking it with you a lot and moving around, the 12 is great, if you need less portability than the 13 will last a bit longer for you in the long run.

I think you could buy the MacBook without any regrets, I do think you will possibly be happier with the pro though.

Your use case means it's not going to make too much difference but the slightly bigger brighter P3 colour gamut screen and more ports and the better keyboard (maybe it's so subjective) will probably make up for the slight size and weight increase.

I actually have both..(2015 rMB m5, and 2016 non-TB 13" rMBP).

Actually, I started with the rMB, gave it to my wife, and bought the non-TB 13" rMBP.

..the 13" is much better. There's not much of a difference between the sizes, both are great to travel with, but the 13" feels more solid. The keyboard is much better on the 13" (once you get used to the style), and battery life is nearly twice as long (11-13 hours vs 5-6 hours).

The 12" seems to be plagued with problems as well - I just had my wifes 12" in for a repair after keys on the keyboard stopped responding, and they actually found another issue related to the camera and replaced the logic board as well. However, since the battery is just over 80% (after only 6-8 months..), they didn't replace it..so that will be another week with it being worked on. If you read the forums, these are all very common problems..

Anyway, my wife went on a trip and took the 13" with her instead, and now wants that one instead. It really is much better...
