I’ve started having issues with my first gen 2015 MacBook 12 inch.

seems to have started after the last update, windows are freezing , some images on webpages are just green boxes, seems really slow after an hour use or so. Safari sometimes flickers. Not sure what’s happening with it. Anyone else having issues ? Hardware check says all is fine.

Check activity monitor to see what could be eating up your resources. You may want to reinstall the OS, as it seems like the software updates messed some things up.

Thanks I reinstalled MacOS last night and it’s working great again. It’s showing that I need that update again though, but I’m guessing I shouldn’t bother? 😆. Thanks again

Glad I could help. Wait on the update. Hopefully Apple will fix it...

I wiped my 2017 MB and installed Catalina fresh. The SSD runs faster now after testing before and after the wipe. no issues here. runs smooth enough for me.

I did the same with my early 2016 rMB. First time since I bought it.

After the Catalina update it was just horrible. Battery life was poor and overall responsiveness dropped a lot. For example, trying to launch Firefox from the dock took about 5-10 seconds. Icon was just bouncing then got stuck.

I got fed up so did a clean install from the internet recovery option (after deleting all the partitions). So much faster and smoother now!

OS updates seem to cause issues for all systems; Windows, MacOS, and Android. Not sure why. Recommend everyone do fresh install once in a while (backup everything first of course)

My 2015 rMB is still at High Sierra - love it's stability - but afraid of the Catalina move...

Good to hear that a clean wipe is the best way to restore speedy functionality.
