Unreal! Now they are priced much more in line with what everyone wanted in the first place. As an early October adopter, I feel a bit slighted that they wanted $300 more for 256GB of storage and now I could get that for the same price I paid less than 4 months ago. Damn.:(

Oh well, I would have needed external storage whether I bought the 128GB or 256GB model anyway, so doesn't change my life much. I still have Retina!:D

Quite tempted to buy a 2012 rmbp. Is this a good idea? Now the 2012 models should be cheaper due to the slight refresh.

Haswell is probably close to 6 months out so if you can wait, wait, if you can't wait, buy.

Oddly enough, the $1499 model is still 2.5GHz, and it remains "configurable," even though the 256GB model is now 2.6GHz. So technically, you can go to Apple's online store, select the base, configure it to 256GB and get a 2.5GHz 256 GB CTO version for the same $1699 that will get you a 2.6GHz standard version.

They also list the 2.9GHz i7 as the upgrade on the $1499 model, while the $1699 model properly lists the new 3.0GHz i7. I wonder how long it will be before Apple fixes this discrepancy.

During the 10% open box promo, I bought a MacBook Pro with Retina Display 13 2.5 128 open box at Best Buy for $1250 before tax. For another $109, I get double the memory (256), which is a steal!

I checked the SF Bay Area Best Buy online website for clearance / open box 13 2.5 256, but only saw that Union City, California had a "good" condition for $1560. I doubt they'd be able to meet or beat Apple's $1359 refurb price. (Union City also shows an open box 13 2.5 128 for $1300, but I doubt they'd drop the price any further despite Apple's price drop to $1500 from $1700.)

Most online retailers--Amazon, Best Buy--seem to only discount the brand new 13 2.5 256 by $100 to $1900 from $2000 to account for the the new model's 100 MHz speed bump. B&H discounted by $120 to $1880.

The discontinued config Apple refurb 13 2.5 256 is a really great deal!

I paid $1699 plus tax for it a couple of weeks ago but was still in the return window. I called Apple and they are refunding the $340 plus tax difference. I'm a long time happy Apple customer anyway but it was nice that they made it very painless for me . Hopefully it will get done before they notice the weird pricing discrepancy between the 128gb version ($1439) and the 256gb version ($1359).

might stick my non retina up for sale, student pricing makes a 2.6 retina very tempting. wonder if i could get £1100 for a 4 month old 2.5 cMBP with 10gb , 128ssd+500gb hdd...

Just bought a 2.5 i5 256GB on sunday, will go and return it tonight and buy the 2.6 i5 256 and get my $300 back.
