Hi all

I was thrilled to purchase the new 16" MBPs when they came out. So far I'm loving it, but the other day I noticed some specks on my screen. I investigated further after cleaning the screen and the screen appears damaged. It almost looks like a chemical has adhered to the screen or damaged the glass. I can feel these little dots/specks with my nail, but they're very small. I can't seem to get them off. Given the pattern, I suspect there was something (glue?) on the palm rests or keyboard that found its way onto the screen once I closed it.

Anyone have ideas on how to remove these specs without damaging the screen? There are some streaks on the screen from the cleaning product that I wiped off - the only part I'm concerned about is directly above the iPhone in the reflection..

Sorry if I was unclear - the computer was in flawless condition when I received it. Somehow I did this to the screne, nto sure how.

My nearest Apple store is ~3.5 hours away, so ideally looking for alternative options. Thanks for the response!

For the price you paid, if it's still within the return window return it and buy another one. Maybe contact apple customer support and see if they can give you a return shipping label. The only thing I know that causes this is when they keyboard is dirty and the lid is closed with pressure applied from the top causing the dirty keyboard to damage the coating on the display.

Did you put it in a bag that has many dirt insides?

I never shove my bare laptop into my backpack without putting a sleeve on. The sleeve is to deter junk and dirt in my backpack getting into my computer vent holes and gaps.
