So I've been trying for 3 days now to install something higher than lion....I've tried mlpostfactor,macpostfactor,ssfot,and macos extractor. I get the error code 1 in both versions of post factor with all versions of mac besides mavericks (I haven't tried it) when trying to copy to the separate partition on the hd and I don't have the choice of selecting a external hd because it's grayed out. When using ssfot with mountain lion and yosemite it works but I can't be verified from both installers, mountain lion fails to show up on selecting disk on reboot and yosemite shows up but it boots to hdd. Macos extractor fails to even install because my system version is apparently too old and it requires 10.8 on my unsupported mac however without a way to install it I can't use the app. I seriously have a giant head ache and it's becoming a pain...I really would like help on this or some clarification on what I'm doing wrong....Thanks for the help in advance, if any other information is needed I will gladly provide it
EDIT: Today after trying Macpostfactor v1.0.1 I've gotten yosemite to boot into installer however I've failed to installer it, after a few seconds of trying to install on the partition I created on my main hard drive it fails and ask me to reboot and report the problem and mountain lion is no better as the best I've gotten for that installer to boot into anything is to boot back into lion, before it would just hang on the apple logo, I'm figuring yosemite has problems installing due to being forced to put installer on hd partition because of error I get on usb, it hangs on "waiting for admin access" so I'd wait for an hour or three and close the app, it allows me to boot the installer but I can never install....I'm starting to lose hope and am in desperate need of some help....Thanks in advance!!!
EDIT 1: So now yosemite is installing on usb via mpf 1.0.1 however it refuses to boot into the installer and hangs on the apple logo....
EDIT 2: It seems that yosemite is booting into the installer but it fails to install after a few seconds it doesn't even seem like it tries to install it's the closest I've gotten to installing anything higher?
EDIT 3: Making a list here of what happens with each tool:
Sfott:Can't boot from any version.
MacOS extractor:Fails to even install...
MacPostFactor Latest Version: Error code 1 on all versions (apparently it's broken since a mac rumor update...)
MacPostFactor V1.0.1: All Versions succeed in the creation of both hdd and usb stick (however hdd causes mpf to hang at "waiting for admin access" and forcing it to be closed but it still works if you wait a few hours and force close mpf) Mountain lion and Mavericks fails to even boot, it freezes on apple logo after disk is selected...Yosemite boots into the installer but it fails to install after a few seconds of initiating an install of it....
going by this guide causes it to just to boot into lion...
