Macbook 2010 accepting only one 6 GB RAM(2+4) not 8 GB

I have mid 2010 13 " macbook pro 2.4 Ghz 4Gb RAM. I purchased transcend 8Gb (2x4Gb) ddr3 1066 cl7 RAM( model no JM1066KSN-4G). When I install both new RAM, macbook do not start (screen remains off) but when I use one native ram (2Gb) and one new (4Gb) it works and shows 6 Gb ram. I follow instructions for RAM installation but unable to upgrade to 8 Gb RAM. Plz suggest solution.

It sounds like one of your new RAM modules may be defective. Make sure they are both properly seated.

Both RAM can work with native one but not in pair

I checked both new modules and found that both of them work along with native RAM but not with each other. I found similar issue with people in other forums also. But could not found solution yet.
I have ask for return to Amazon. Hope they will take it back. And planning to go for G Skill RAM (Bit costly)

i am in the same situation as you are, bought 8 gb of ram but am only able to use 6. I bought it on Amazon.in as well. Have you been able to sort out the problem ?

Mid 2010 macbook will not accept all 1066 MHz RAM but only PC3-8500 1066 Mhz RAM. If U can retain one native module of 2Gb and insert 4 Gb 1066 MHz or even 1333 Mhz(in some cases) RAM, it will work.

Solution: Either work with 2+4 GB RAM or better would be return that RAM( I have returned) and buy G-skill 2x 4Gb PC3-8500 RAM. Transcend PC3-8500 is very costly.
