Has anyone found software to prevent the computer from sleeping when the lid is closed and on battery power that works with the new early 2016 macbook?

On the MBP if using a an external monitor, wireless keyboard and mouse then the laptop does not go to sleep with the lid down. I'm sure the same thing applies to the Macbook.

i use insomniax. works great. i use it to listen to internet radio with lid closed.

caffeine works to stop the mac from going to sleep with the lid open however i find it doesnt work with the lid closed. What does work for me on my mb air is a program called nosleep. that actually stops the mac from sleeping with the lid closed.

I was also looking for a similar program and found this one:
https://github.com/newmarcel/KeepingYouAwake

It is a Caffeine clone but it is compatible with Sierra and has some additional fixes.
Keeping you awake is nearly perfect... If you are looking for a Caffeine substitute.
Works like a charm, the menu bar icon is retina-ready, and it is simple to use.

But, sadly, this is not what the OP is looking for. Neither Caffeine nor KeepingYouAwake are going to prevent sleep when closing the lid. But, if you connect it to an external display, and plugged to the power, it won't go to sleep when you close the lid.
