I received my MacBook Pro 15 2,3 GHz Intel Core i9 16 GB 2400MHz DDR 4 on Friday. Installed Adobe Creative Suite and Xcode - however I quickly noticed that the overall performance was slightly slower than my 6 year old MacBook Pro from 2013.

I ran Geekbench and got a Single-Core Score of 1227 and Multi-Core Score of 6542. Took it to Genius Bar and ran some more test in Intel Power Gadget but they couldn't find any hardware issues.

The Genius Bar support recommended to reinstall Mojave from scratch. Now I just got back home and ran Geekbench again with any other software installed and get the same Geekbench result - after doing some research it seems like the score should be 4x 4x,5 times of what I get.

Any recommendations on what I should do?

Thanks

Your machine is probably performing as it should.

Geekbench updated to version 5 a couple of weeks ago, and the new version uses a new baseline score. Scores for the same hardware are coming out around “75 to 80 percent lower on Geekbench 5” according to this article:

https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www....-with-all-new-tests-modes-and-scores.amp.html

Check your score against other users machines here:

Edit:
Your scores are actually slightly above the average for your machine.

Check out the current Geekbench 5 thread for a Quantitative comparison to your machine. Post your results there.
