I've been ogling the Macbooks on the Apple Store web site for the past few days. It no longer presents the option to buy the 256 GB/m5 combination. Is this more likely to be as simple as temporary unavailability and stock will be refreshed soon, or a possible indication that updated models are coming soon?

I think you meant m7 and if you did I have just checked it and it gives the delivery option at June 9th. Which makes sense for the WWDC refresh I guess?

256GB/m5 was never an option. Are you referring to m7?

It's entirely possible that I was mistaken, but I was certain that I saw it. It makes sense though. I don't see the combo on any other web sites. Darn, I thought I found a reason to get excited.

It does strike me as odd, however, that the m7 is available in a 256 capacity, but not the m5 (or am I not looking at the most current model on B&H)?

It's a way for Apple to get you to spend more. If you're not buying the m3, you need to pay roughly the same amount extra for the m5 with 512, or just the m7. If they'd offer the m5 with 256, that up-sell would likely be about half that. It's clever, and obviously good for Apple, but annoying for customers.

I hadn't considered it that closely, but that makes perfect business sense.
