Ok so I have a Macbook 5,2 never been dropped, always handled it with care, ect. And recently it has had this thing where the backlight will turn off and I have to close the screen about halfway for it to turn back on, then after a couple minutes if I tilt it back up, the backlight stays on. Not a major problem, however I'd like to fix it without taking it to Apple because I use it for work. Any help would be appreciated.

Most likely it's a bad cable or connection. You could try reseating both ends of the monitor cable and see if that helps.
