My CPU is at 83 ... I've never seen it break 65 before ... I'm not doing anything intense. My fans are going at 6200 RPM non-stop. What's causing this!?

Open Activity Monitor or look at iStat Pro? Something is doing something, did you leave something open in one of your spaces and forgot about it?

If all else fails, a restart can't hurt :)

It was Mail! It was using 105% of my CPU (how?)

In less than a minute I've dropped from 83C to 64C. Wow.

Any explanation for this?

I hope your talking celcius, because my CPU right now is 128˚F...(51˚C)

Edit - NVM now that I saw you most recent post.

Numerous things can cause mail to act in such manner. If you have an outbox that isn't sending (your smtp settings are wrong, which I doubt), you have mail set to check for mail every minute, or it was just attempting to compute something very large. Anyway, glad to know you figured out your problem.

In my Corner
my buddy's 2.4G mpb was doing this. he took some screen shots of istat's temp read out (around 80c) and took it an apple store. they sent it in and replaced the fans
