Macbook adapter plug gets very hot

I recently purchased a used macbook a1181 model. I noticed that the ac adapter plug gets very hot when plugged in. Is this a common problem with macbooks? Are there ways of keeping the adapter plug cooled better?

It's normal.

Its how they are designed to be. All laptop power bricks get hot when the laptop is charging or working under a heavy load.
