macbook air 11 i5 or ipad 2?

If you have a computer already, get the iPad 2. Perfect companion. If you didn't have a good computer though, I'd say take the Air.
Unless you need the video camera, I would still recommend a refurb'd ipad1.

Even if you don't plan on paying for the data, you'd have the option. (as well as a gps-enabled 32gb ipad for $430)
If you're looking to blow the dough, though, those new airs are pretty nifty. I'd recommend the 128gb 13". My laptop has a 120gb SSD and I could never use a harddrive again.

Depends on your needs I love my iPad 2 and I also love my Air. This is kinda like asking if your mom and dad were both drowning who would you save 😀

for surfing the web, the ipad. the iswifter app does a respectable job with flash content if you need to view something in that way. however, it all depends on your surfing habits. the macbook air is a computer, so what you are really asking is whether you need two computers or something different. i think you know the answer 🙂
go to bestbuy, buy an ipad (wifi if using at home/coffee shops/with your mobile hotspot or 3g if you don't have wifi access) and give it a try. don't forget to get some kind of cover to protect it. i think you will enjoy it, but if you don't, you can return it 🙂

If you have a PC already and just want something you can browse the web with, then definitely the iPad. You've got also an extra $500 bucks in your pocket.
