I hope it doesn't leave you want more...
The macbook pro does all the air does with the drive so buy the pro if you can, If your going to invest all your cash why not go for the best...

IF they release a Retina MBA, it will be like the rMBP. More expensive, and different. I can not be more happy with my 13"/i7/8gb/256gb.

It's great thay you're happy! But don't forget, you have a computer that weighs a lot more than the Air, it's fatter, lower res, and not nearly as pretty!
I prefer the black bezel on the Pro over the silver bezel on the Air. :p

Me too. But, to be honest, both the Air and Pro need a design overhaul. Even the new rMBP looks a bit outdated in design so I'd like to see some black metal used instead of the same old aluminum.

Ooooo that would be sexy. Gosh darn it, I just bought my MBA yesterday and now the color looks boring to me. Thanks!

I've literally just purchased my Macbook Air stepping up from an old MBP c2d 2007 model non unibody and considered the pro again but went with the air and don't regret the decision. It's a beautifully engineered machine, extremely thin, quiet and powerful enough for most of my needs. It's actually made me consider selling my iPad 3 now as it's to light and portable I don't see the need any longer for my iPad.
My opinion would be opt for the Air, I don't think you'll regret it

The 13" Macbook Pro is the worst computer in the Apple lineup right now, IMO. Low res, heavy. The ONLY reason one should get it is if they need a SuperDrive daily.

Get the Air.

AGREED. The air is amazing. So fast, light, great screen, great battery life. I never ever use disks or the missing ports on it.
SO worth the missing things.
Even if you don't think you care about weight, you'll end up loving that part if you pick up someone else's computer. The MBPs are so heavy!

To Air or Pro

Guys,

I'll make this quick and easy Im a Engineer at Cisco, and I used to have a 15' loaded Thinkpad, I've had the Air 13' loaded 2011 version and have never looked back. I run VMware fusion for Windows and everything else on Mountain Lion. I don't miss anything, I have a dongle for Ethernet if ever needed , and hook it up to a 27 dell monitor for when Im not traveling. There is no reason to compromise , The air is light, thin and has the power to do everything you will ever need from a student to a engineer, trust me.

I think it can be broken down as simple as this:

If you need the more powerful hardware of the Pro and the retina display, then get the pro.

If the air's hardware is enough for your needs, get the air, because the size, weight, battery life and price is better.

If you need the power more than portability, yet still want to lug it around, the Pro is a nice compromise. If you have a desktop for heavy work and just want a mobile counterpart, then the Air is a better solution if you don't need to rely on it for all your work.
