MacBook Air 15" Backlight Issue

Hi,

Anybody got this issue when coming out of sleep or did I draw the shortest straw this time?
It looks like the maximum screen brightness goes down to half, like half of the LEDs are turned off.
And those patterns at the bottom of the screen remind me of a display cable issue that the bad MBPs had about 5 years ago.

I got the 16GB/1TB from apple.com and today is its second day.
This happened once this morning (right out of the overnight sleep) and the second time right now. It goes away after reboot.

Two days in and that looks awful... just send it back and get a new one.
 
I unboxed it yesterday, but it was delivered July 13th. I'm just outside of the return window :(

I did, and they did. They were very nice to extend the return window another 2 weeks.

Unfortunately I'll be in Europe until then, and they don't allow returning it through any European Apple Store, I need to send it to the US myself (because it was bought in the US - ordered on the Apple Online Store), which is really expensive. I now need to ponder whether to do this, or just hand it in for a free repair at any Apple Store in Europe (and accept that I basically paid full retail price for essentially a second-hand / repaired computer).

It seems like they really tried to be accommodating and all, but just don't have the logistics for a scenario like mine.
 
Real bummer, because this is otherwise the nicest computer I've ever used (and I've used many).

Mind ellaborating on "various small issues"? I have my 15" for a few days now and I haven't noticed any "small issues".
 
That looks exactly like the screen flex cable problem dubbed 'flexgate' that plagues the 2016/17 Pros. I would know lol
