I can't use my MacBook without fan being forced to run at 100%, it's been like this for the last 2 Betas. If I disable Mac fan control the MacBook dies after about 60 seconds to the black screen of death in multi language. If I start the MacBook without the fan control software the MacBook dies again within 2mins to the black screen of death.

i've coppie this bellow from the crash report once it boots again.

panic(cpu 2 caller 0xffffff8021754dff): nvme: "Fatal error occurred. CSTS=0xffffffff US[1]=0x0 US[0]=0x32 VID=0x144d DID=0xa808
. FW Revision=1B2QEXE7\n"@/AppleInternal/BuildRoot/Library/Caches/com.apple.xbs/Sources/IONVMeFamily/IONVMeFamily-557.40.1/Common/IONVMeController.cpp:5454

Something wrong with your non-volatile memory? Have you tried running HW diagnostics, hold down D during boot?

Have you tried doing a PRAM reset?
First thing I did Mate. My macbook been on since 9am this morning with fan 100% and no issues and temp sits 45’ish fine and works perfect. If I stop the fan and pop it to automatic the temps rocket up to 100’ish to 105 then the locks up all except mouse arrow followed by black screen of death message.

I’m 100% sure it’s big sur thats causing it as it coincided with beta 3 release.

ive done what you’d try such as reapplied thermal paste ( used grizzly but not the liquid metal ) , cleaned heatsink , cleaned the fan but to be fair they were pretty clean anyways.

After googling it seems an issue with 3rd party NVME drives , I got a Samsung 970 512gb with Sintech short adapter. This was installed pretty much from day one of buying the MacBook in November 2018. I’ve just taken the the NVME & adapter out to find black gunk on 3 of the adapters pins, I’ve cleaned this gunk off ( god knows how this got there as it’s not been removed etc. ) and see if that solves the heat issues. I’ve also applied some 100% copper flat heat sinks I found in a rasPerry pi box I had spare To the chips on the NVME.

Hmm, I have the the same Sintech but with a 1TB Sabrent. My test 2015 MBA runs a bit longer than yours before crashing, but definitely seems better using the fans set to FullBlast. I stopped running F@H in the background as well since (for me) that really drives up the temps. I will have to pull out the adapter and take a look.

I've just dropped one of these on , they do fit in the 2017 MacBook with enough room for the lid to closed. It's dropped by temps by easy 20 degrees when using the Mac like I am not on this forum , idle everything closed it drops to 24'ish degrees with no fans running.
