My 2018 MacBook Air was due for a new battery. I ordered one from a good shop with good service here in the Netherlands. After installation, the fan ran at full speed and the Mac was extremely slow. I received a new, different battery. I connected it provisionally for a moment. That worked fine. But when I install it, I have the same issues again. What am I doing wrong? I am using the iFixit guide and following it literally. I have also read all the comments on the IFixit guide.

I actually solved this myself. 🙂 The battery connector is tricky to attach. Many people said this in the comments on iFixit. It needs to slide all in. I recommend to look closely at a the connector before removing it the first time. Even make a photo perhaps. I was certain I attached the connector in the right way, but I didn't. Very glad all is working now.
