MacBook Air 2018 vs MacBook - Display quality?

To me, the 12" MacBook on the left in brighter for sure

I'm not sure it comes through well in the photo - it's hard to get results that match what you see - but I have got both side by side here and the difference is significant.

This is tough. I really, really like the new rMBA form factor. It's an ideal compromise between my 2015 rMBP and my 2017 rMB. I'm not sure I can get over the display issues. YMMV, though.

You’ll have to be at 100% brightness with the new Air, guaranteed. I could instantly see how dim the retail display unit was.

Still looking for more information and reports that some Air model screens are brighter than others. Sparse anecdotes thus far.

Can't verify it but a user claimed to have 2 airs he purchased (BB and then microcity) and said that they did not share the same level of brightness at max. Finally going to see the new air for myself Friday, and my BB usually has each color on display so I'll try to see if I notice differences between any of them.

Not me but I can also confirm that statement... My 1st Air was much dimmer than the 2nd... Both of mine were purchased at the Apple Store...

Hope you get one that meets your needs! If I had to guess my 1st Air was low 200 nits and the 2nd was about at the rated 300 nits... Still not bright enough for me and both looked washed out compared to the Pro..
