Well, from those two hours you have to subtract half an hour for emoji presentations and another half hour for uplifting 'one of every colour' videos.

:D new Watch bands also, i'm looking forward to the Apple Watch announcement more so than the iPhone this year simply because it will look like my iPhone X from last year and from what's leaked already there probably wont be a point in upgrading this year. One more interesting thing we could hear is Airpower release date and maybe AirPods with "Hey Siri" announced.

Apple Watch - Series 4 - 30 minutes
iPhone - 3 versions - 45 minutes to an hour
Airpower and AirPods with "Hey Siri" announced - 10 minutes

I'm still hoping for at least iPad Pro's but we will see.

Tomorrow's event will most probably be only about iOS 12, watchOS and related devices: iPhone, iPads and iWatch. I'm afraid we will have to wait for a later event/press conference in late September/early October for the new MBA/MB and mojave OS. Maybe with immediate availability for orders, though...

I'm thinking the same sadly.

Invites will have to go out soon after Wednesday though for a late Sept Macbook event. Can see it slipping to second week in October.

If there is such a major redesign/update surely it will warrant an event rather than press release?
They've missed the bulk of the back to school buyers already. Maybe that was their plan all along, not giving away free headphones with a totally new product that should sell by itself in big quantities.

There won’t be another September event, it would likely be in late October if there is going to be an October event.

TouchID is a strange one, because if a new MBA design does not have it, that's effectively saying that only people with deep(er) pockets deserve the security.

Now I'm actually HOPING that there is no Macbook Air release, I just bought the MBP13 2015 (Retina), for 600 EU. Couldn't pass on that deal.

There's still a tiny chance that Apple makes the perfect MBA that would make me regret this purchase, but the odds are so bad that I didn't let them deter me.

It looks like a curve ball has been thrown into the mix by Ming Rumored low-price MacBook may replace 12-inch MacBook in the lineup — and even feature Touch ID without the Touch Bar
/

touch id without the touchbar is totally what I would want. I don't think Face ID is superior to touch id. I still have all kinds of problems in the dark, when wearing a mask (there are large swaths of cultures and jobs that wear masks), and just viewing my stuff when it's lying flat on a table. All told, I have found Face ID to require more password entering than touch id ever did.

I say give us both: Touch ID and Face ID. Wouldn't that be even more secure?
I think people would pay an extra $20 per phone to make it happen, b/c Touch ID is a commodity at this point. If you've got $749, $999, $1449 to spend, you surely can find another $20 :>

What are you guys going to do if October comes and the MacBook Air replacement is still not announced? People will threaten to jump ship for good, but how many of you will actually plop down your cash for something like a surface book or surface laptop?

I’ll buy a MacBook Pro, probably, unless the air is still on super sale.

I’m interested in this mac specifically if it has a quad core CPU. If I can get that performance with a 256gb ssd, retina, a port I can use while it’s charging and a smaller footprint for under $1200 I’ll bite.

I still love the 11”, but I can’t deny the increased performance of the 15watt quadcore CPUs Intel is making. It’d be nearly double the performance, and I use mine to produce music so performance is always appreciated.

If it’s just a bigger version of the MacBook with similar performance, I’ll continue to happily use the 11” Air.

There are lots of interesting windows laptops in the $1000 range, but moving from Logic Pro X is not worth it. I’ll probably end up buying used Macs if Apple keeps $1800 as the new normal for more than one usable port.

I will probably opt to get either the 12” MacBook when it gets a spec update OR I will pick up a 13” MacBook Pro as it’s not much bigger.

I’ve played around with a Surface Pro a couple of times in store, It’s not a bad device to be honest BUT it looks like there may be a steep learning curve for those of us who haven’t used Windows in many years, (before 2011 for me) that’s what puts me off in the end, other than that I really think the Surface is a device that can replace a laptop.

When I tested the Surface Pro in store I had no idea what I was doing, one minute I was using the trackpad and keyboard (brilliant keyboard by the way, much better than the ASK in my opinion) the next I was touching the screen, there are so many icons it seemed really confusing.

Sold my MacBook Air that was basically perfect but 5 years old because apple would make it obsolete soon but they haven’t given me a solid reason in 5 years to upgrade.

Getting annoyed they don’t upgrade their stuff any more. Also a show in October just for computers and iPads. Thought neither of these things sold that well.

So no ipad air on october ????
why Tim Cook cant make like Steve ???

that why everybody put steve on top him

The iPad Air won't be updated, Apple doesn't event sell the iPad Air any more! There is likely to be an October event for the redesigned iPad Pro and new Mac's (possibly a new MacBook Air with retina display and less bezels) updated iMac's and so on.

That's an excellent question. I'm starting to think the possibility of getting a Huawei Matebook X Pro and install a nice Ubuntu on it. However I'm still hoping for an October event, whether this will be about something called MBA or any other 13" MB without touchbar. Apple has an incomplete series of laptops right now so I guess they'll have to do something about it soon.

Invites normally go out 14 days before Apple events so fingers crossed there is some update news in the next couple of weeks.

Lenovo S730

I presume the new MacBook "Air"/nTB (whatever) will be something that competes with the likes of that, which is quite exciting.

The S730 seems to be a pretty much the perfect Window's version of the Air in form and function (NB has two TB3 ports, specs don't state that on the site, and one USB-C gen 1). It has an ultra low power IPS LCD to maximise battery life.

It is only FHD as opposed to retina which for me, I think is fine given the screen size and it helps with battery life. Will be interesting to see what the new MacBook resolution is.

It will be interesting to see what’s announced at next months Apple event, I’m hoping an update to the MacBook Air with Retina display and thinner bezels as rumoured by Mark Gurman, however Ming Chi Kuo has said that the budget Mac will be getting Touch ID but no Touch Bar, this would probably make it very popular since a lot of people want the Touch ID sensor but without the Touch Bar.

As the prospect of £2,700 for a suitable 15” pro is so eye watering I might go for a 15” windows machine for work plus one of these if it’s any good. I’d just like to keep a toe in the Mac ecosystem - so as it’s a secondary machine the basic 128gb (I’m guessing) model should be ok, I can store everything else on the main windows machine. Might even still come in under £2,699 total if the Mac really is ~£949

I don’t know if it will be £949 probably more like starting at £999 or even £1,200 and that will probably be the starting price, my guess is there will probably be configurations such as being able to upgrade the Ram to 16GB possibly a core i7 processor option and so on. It will be very interesting to see what form factor this comes in as well, will it be the rumoured Air or a different form factor? Gurman says Air while Kuo says budget Mac but with Touch ID.

The price is confusing - I mean the nTB is quite expensive as it is so not sure how they can upgrade the components and make it cheaper. Maybe the dual core lowest level whiskey lake CPU’s?
