Hey guys, how are you doing? hope you are all well

I recently purchased the macbook air 2020 13 inch version but have been having difficulty finding cases for this device? most of the cases advertised on amazon seem to be falsely advertised as the macbook air is 1mm thicker. any recommendations of where or if you guys bought any cases that fit

I don't use a case.

Instead I use a sleeve to protect the computer when in my bag.

My favorite is the Incase ICON sleeve - lots of protection for the edges and corners. Slides into a bag easily.

I have a hard case that I used for the 2018/19 MacBook Air, and it kinda fits the 2020 Air. The lid clicks on firmly, but the bottom does not clip onto the thicker base of the new Air. In addition, the bottom case prevents the display from opening past 90°. Since it does provide some protection, I plan to keep the case on until I can buy one designed for the new 2020 Air.

It may a few weeks before any reputable brand releases a case for the 2020 Air, but this seller on eBay appears to list a case specifically for the 2020 Air (A2179), separate from the 2018/19 model. Worth a try as eBay will give you a full refund if the case does not fit your new Air.
