The MBA (2020, Intel i5) from my wife frequently hangs up when connected to a USB-C HUB (Ethernet, 1 USB Hard Drive). I tried different hubs, but the error is still there. Has anyone the same problem and a possible Solution for it?
The OS is the latest version, so everything should be up to date.

Have you tried it without the ethernet cable connected and use wifi instead?

Yes, I tried without Ethernet only the Hard drive and the other way around - same result.

Hard drives are known not to work with USB-C hubs, it tends to work with a single USB-C to USB adapter. Try that, should work.

The combination worked for over a year flawless, it started with some update of the OS as far as I can remember…

I tend to think that the installation might be corrupted. Please reinstall system as new.

Hi,
I have issues with USB-C Hub. Frequent and random disconnections.
My setup:
Macbook Air 2020, i3, 8GB, 256GB, Monterey
USB-C Hub DodoCool
Most of the ports are used:, HDMI, Ethernet, USB A for Webcam, Keyboard, Mouse and 1 TB External HDD for Time Machine.
I tried to remove the HDD and use a separate USBC-Hub on the second USB-C port of the Mac, moving the power cable to the Dodocool Hub, switching the HDMI fora VGA cable. But I still experience instability and disconnects.
The Mac is been shut down every night and the power is cut off as well.

Maybe related issue:
Since upgrading to Monterey, I have random Memory issues. almost all of the 8GB are used up when Mail is open. I suspect memory leaks. Normally, the system uses rarely more the4-5GB out of the available 8GB. I switched to Spark Mail. No issue for a couple of months until I had the same issue with Spark. Apple was contacted. Monterey was reinstalled. Issues seemed to be resolved until I was back! I am back with Spark with no issues since a month.

My questions:

Does the combination of Macbook Air USB-C and macOS Monterey at fault?
IS the quality of the Hubs in question?
Am I overloading the capacity of both Macbook and Hubs?
Does the memory issues be related to the Hub problem?

I spoke several time directly to Apple and they don't seem to offer any solution besides going wireless with is not an option for me.

In the mean time, having the HDD only connected when needed seem to resolve the issue disconnection issues. But because it's Time Machine, I need to find a solution to keep it connected permanently.

Maybe I just need a good quality hub. Any suggestions?

I wonder where I can find the power specifications of the Macbook USB-C ports!

Comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
