Hi all,

I find that the lid is a tad too stiff. I cannot open the lid with one finger without causing the bottom to raise up together with the lid. Is this an issue and should i bring it to the genius bar?

When I open my lid after a long time, its stiff. But if I open and close it a few times, it works fine.

Check if holding the laptop vertically(with the tapered side facing up), if the laptop pops open on its own.

Why do you need to open the lid with one finger? Just use two hands and be happy the lid is nice and tight. It will loosen over time and that's when you're going to have bigger problems -- like when the lid won't stay open on its own and you're wishing it was nice and tight again.

You're not alone.. I have noticed this as well actually! I'm also having issues with the sensitivity (lack of) with the track pad.

Possibly because this IS a problem, and I suspect it's related to whatever "new" aluminum housing/unibody materials are being used in this current generation, I think the unibody is susceptible to being warped by normal handling because the track pad is also not quite right on my new model, and I have noticed the lid's shell is unusually thin and prone to damage.

Some of us know this product inside out and can tell when something is awry.

I'm really not sure what you mean by the lid being unusually thin, all unibody Macs have arguably the most study chassis in contrast to any other laptop.

Well this is the first apple unibody I have ever owned that has inexplicably ended up with an actual dent on the lid! I cannot even place how it could have happened as I am careful with things, I can only surmise it occurred while packed inside my actual laptop bag .. which is a bit startling.

What if the laptop lid pops open?
Is it something to worry?

Use your friggin thumb to open the lid. There's a groove kinda thing close to the palm rest, when the lid is closed keep your thumb there pull it open using one hand. jesus you wanted to take it to the genius store?
