Hello,
Got for Christmas a new MacBook Air with i7 (2020), however, it struggles with an old, 2012 game (NFS MW 2012 to be exact) - low fps, lag even on lowest settings. One of the reasons can be dedicated video ram, as it is only at 128MB, but I am not sure.
Also, while playing on MacOS (Kerbal Space Program) Mac has no problems and it runs well.
Any solutions?

not too surprising. Very old games will be the hardest for Rosetta to deal with (no metal support, etc.)

OP has an Intel Mac not an M1.

Is this under a VM or? At first when I read your post I was thinking “okay, 2012 may seem old but games haven’t really improved until like last year” for example, Tomb Raider 2013 still looks amazing and has some pretty demanding requirements.
But, I googled the game you’re trying to and saw it requires a Core 2 Duo. Are you running this natively in bootcamp? If you are, I gonna say your issue is the iGPU. Intel GPUs suck, always have, always will. The game requires at least 512MB of dedicated GPU VRAM. So, it might run “okay” on some iGPU’s like a Ryzen G series, but I would never expect an Intel iGPU to accomplish much of anything.

I have 1536MB of GPU VRAM (thats what my macOS says) but on windows I have only 128MB of VRAM. I saw some tutorials that it can be changed, however, I dunno if this is important and I am not sure if this secure to do this.
I am using Intel Iris Plus Graphics, if that's useful to you.

Hmm..
Which graphics drivers are you using? The ones supplied by the Apple bootcamp package? Try uninstalling the iGPU drivers and download them directly from Intel, like any other PC.

With Windows on a Mac via bootcamp, I always use device manufacturer drivers from the manufacturer not from Apple. This may be different with T2 equipped macs I have no idea. But, the iGPU driver will more than likely be better from Intel.
