Hello!

I bit the bullet and just purchased this.

if I need an HDMI plug what adaptor should I buy?

are there any other essential adaptors needed?

also since it’s so thin and sleek any news of it bending?

Thanks

There are plenty of them in amazon, just look for "usb-c to hdmi adaptor":

There are even some of them with the macbook air colours.

In my case I bought 2 simple adaptors to USB 3.0.

No news of bending AFAIK.

Thank you so much!

would you reccomend the i5 8GB 512 for web browskkns video streaming and work stuff?

the MBA won’t get hot if I stream anything on it right?

You're welcome. I ordered the i3 one for the same tasks but also for teleworking by connecting to my company via VPN and buying/selling some stocks in my current online broker. If you're not using it for more intensive tasks the base model should be fine. Anyway stay tuned about i5 reviews in order to be sure you won't be affected by temperatures issues, you shouldn't but ...

I'm upgrading from an 11" Macbook air mid-11 and it's still working fine, even playing 1080p films, so the new i3 should fly.

There has been much conflicting information on the heat with the i5 processor. Mine is coming in the mail hopefully today and I should be able to provide more insight a little later.

Nicr I got i5 526 and 8GB Ram. Is 8 GB ram going to hurt anything?

8 GB of RAM is the benchmark for a premium machine at this point. At my role at my work, I determine all hardware we buy, develop images, maintain software, etc. All of our machines (unless purchased for a special purpose) are i5 processors, 8 GBs of RAM, and a 256 GB SSD. I went with the 16 GB of RAM simply for the fact that my older mid-2012 MBP had 16 GB of RAM and I would occasionally tax it and allocate 8 GB to a VM itself. macOS has superior memory management and there are folks on MacBook Airs from a few years ago with 4 GB of RAM doing just fine!

Yup, in fact my air 11" has only 4 GB and does it very well.

With an SSD, most machines these days for typical usage will be able to easily sacrifice RAM. That being said, 8 GB is plenty for most any use case. Even the Pros are shipping with 8 GB of RAM by default, as is most other Pro grade machines.

You can do streaming, web browsing, other office productivity stuff VERY easily with the i5+8GB model you are getting. Infact you can do it fine on a base 2014 Air(i5,4GB,128Gb) like I am using. Dont worry, you are buying a machine which is MORE THAN equipped to meet your needs. Enjoy your Air :)

thank you!
Cheers!
