Hi

I will hopefully be getting a new MacBook air soon and need some help on a good mouse to use with it, I was originally looking at the Apple mouse but then someone recommended me the Logitech MX 3, but after some research and advice from some it seems like the MX 3 has had some issues with mac for quite a few, and Im not willing to pay nearly £100 on a mouse that could encounter issues.

Can anyone spec me an alternative to the two already mentioned, I only do light work on my mac, just basic stuff like browsing internet, don't game at all on it.

Budget max £100

Must be bluetooth and have a USB C charging cable, as the new mac air has thunderbolt type connections I think.

Thanks

The MacBook Air has an integrated trackpad. I don't think you can beat that. I would suggest that you give it a good shot, learn the macOS gestures, and stick with it for at least a month before you give up and switch to a mouse. No mouse will give you the same gesture control as the trackpad. Nor is your mouse guaranteed to be with you 100% of the time like the trackpad is.

Having said that, whatever mouse you've liked and used in the past will work with your new computer. Why not stick with what you know and like?

I have a Magic Mouse with my Air, and another with my Pro! I know many do not find them comfortable etc, but I really like them! Nice and slim/portable too for keeping in my MBA sleeve...

I have a trackpad with my iMac, but as the MacBook has a trackpad I want to get a mouse so have a choice and the fact Im moving to a MacBook I don't want to be sitting at a desk using the trackpad on the mac all day.
I kind of miss having a mouse as well.

does it have to be wireless? literally any mouse on the market is a better mouse than the magic mouse. i find my gaming mouse alot more comfortable than any productivity mouse my office IT offers..

I'm using a Logitech G305, which I absolutely love. It's a gaming mouse but it's wireless and doesn't have any corny gaming aesthetic and looks quite at home on an office desk.

Slightly off topic, but how is it that Logitech still, somehow, in the year 2022 does not make a USB-C version of their receiver dongle. It's truly insane.

Another vote for the MX Master 3. I've re-configured the button from wheel mode shift to mission control and I find it very productive.

Ok you guys have convinced me to get Logi MX3S.

Do you plan on travelling with a mouse? If yes, this mouse is quite big imo and best to look for something smaller.

I have the same mouse, but I don't travel with it due to it's size.

Hi

No just for at home. So all good.

I have the MX Master 3 for Mac + MX Keys for Mac which I primarily use with my iMac but it is also set up for my MBP and can switch between those computers. I'm pretty happy with them but I will say that the automatic backlight sensor on the keyboard has gotten weird over time and causes the backlight to flash when it shouldn't.

I have just bought the best MX Master 3s travel case from Amazon - it’s called Hermitshell - it protects the mouse and clips in/onto my bag for travel. Makes travelling with it super easy - love it!

Something to do with the scrolling according to what people have said and searches. May not effect everyone.
I purchased one anyway and hopefully Im happy with it.

Logitech mx master here, not the 3 but an older version. Bluetooth only, said "mac edition" on the box.
Perfect for at home. To big to carry around and i didn't want to buy yet another case for something.

When i am out and about (college, work) i use the trackpad because it works like a charm. But sometimes when the trackpad isn't enough ( was struggling with making a presentation on the spot with only the trackpad) i bought a nice and cheap logitech pebble mouse.

Small, BT works great and the mouseclicks are so nice an silent.

They rated the MX3 highly as well, I just didn't like the shape.

I thought I liked the Master MX Series, I used them since they were called "Performance MX" - but since moving to bluetooth gaming mouses, I won't ever go back. Lighter, faster tracking, and more affordable.
