Apple should have found a solution to build in AT&T 3G into a MacBook Air...so what is the best solution so far on getting AT&T 3G on this new Air I just got? I know USB modems exist, but I haven't had great experiences with those things in the past (They always seem to run pretty slow, despite my phone in the same location and iPad in the same location will FLY). Maybe a Mi-Fi solution from Novatel?

A Mifi just converts a 3G signal into a wireless one. It's not 3G "in" your Macbook. The closest you can get is a USB 3G modem.

Easy. Share your 3G connection on the iPhone through wifi.
