Hi,

I'm looking for suggestions on how to make a Macbook Air 4,1 usable again. One of the professors where I work retired and had to return this machine since it is government property.

The Air is in good condition -- the battery holds long enough, it has a 256Gb SSD and 4GB of RAM, it is running Lion, so it is good enough for light use, e.g. in a classroom, with a projector. The problem is that Chrome is an old version that complains a lot about basically everything, being almost unusable. Safari also for some reason does not render most pages correctly.

What do you suggest I do to make it more usable, for browsing, teleconferences, PDF display? Is there a good enough browser that is compatible with Lion, or should I try to install Mint on it?

Thanks
Rafael

Your macbook air is still great!
I have a 2010 version, the 3.1 which i am running Mojave and use that as my primary computer mostly for graphic design, typing- writing and Internets.
High sierra will work and run things very well as far as ipads, ipods etc.
I tried installing and running Mint linux, but never figured that put in 2018.
while a Dell XPS 13 from 2019 sits in a box.
