I bought an air in april of last year and loved it. in fact it got stolen in july... and i had the choice of replacing it with ANY computer (not to mention I was a recent hs graduate with no money and really couldn't afford another computer).

nevertheless, i bucked up and saved money to buy a new one. I loved this thing and everyone knew it. I was the biggest advocate for macs, and specifically the air. when people brought up the no ports/ dvd drive/ small hd/ slow processor, i would always refute these.

now having it for a year i realize this computer isn't for me. I can't run a video ichat for more than 30 seconds without having my air lock up. hulu hd videos (especially full screen)... forget it, won't work. I now understand what the haters hate for. I mean, i have not really had problems with lack of ports, drives, small hd, but this machine just can't run simple video tasks... which i believe cripples the machine.

I don't want to come off as an air hater because anybody that knows me can immediately defend that i loved this thing... but i just am fed up and will be selling this machine for a HUGE loss to buy a 15'' pro that will suit my needs.

Those of you who say my specific machine is bad, maybe it is... but ive been to the apple store multiple times and tested new rev b and c machines and i have yet to find one that can run hulu hd. for some, this may not be a dealbreaker, as it wasn't for me at the time, but now it is. I use my mom's old white macbook with 1 gb ram and a basic processor and it can even run ichat videos and hulu without choking.

so for those of you who love it... they probably use it for things that i used to solely use it for... and love it... like i did.

but for those who hate it i completely agree with you. this machine just can't run things i need it to. too bad i put close to $4000 in airs to realize this.

therefore it is stupid for anybody here to argue whether the air is terrible or the greatest thing ever. it can be either, depending on your use.

ps sorry for typing this up sounding like i have a limited grasp of the english language i am just too lazy to go back and read it over right now.

i am not speaking of just testing a single machine. anytime i walk into an apple store i test the machines and have yet to find an air that can run a hulu hd fullscreen video whether ssd or not. this is my honest experience and i don't want to offend you if you rev b can run one... not calling you a liar, i just don't think the air is reliable enough for me. i dont want to have to hope my air can handle an ichat video chat and a link my buddy sends me for youtube simultaneously. after using my moms macbook i see i shouldnt have to struggle with this anymore as if her mac can handle a hulu hd and video chat at the same time a new pro most definitely will.

Not a lover or hater of MBA and certainly wasn't questioning the veracity of your comments. I am on the fence and wanted to know which models you had or tested, plain and simple. I think our needs are different since I tend to not like watching movies on computers and will be for grad school. Between school itself and rotations, I doubt I will have time to use the machine for much pleasure....though I hope it will be a pleasure to use.

    Thanks..

Maybe you can sell your Air on CL and buy a MBP? :) I would do that.

That's the main reason why I'm selling off my Air. The video thing really bugs me.

I just posted that cool book improves flash hd video playback. not sure what hula's like as I live in London, we have the iplayer, no all you can watch hula!

but the mac's throttling could be stuttering your video. Just my 2p (pence;)

Why are their so many hatters today? LOL

I just tested out a few HD (720p) videos on Hulu and it ran fine, no stutters at all. Mind you I'm on a Rev. C 2.13/128ssd. I held out on an air until now because I didn't feel like it was powerful enough, but this seems fine to me.

I'm on a Rev A MBA and have never experienced slow videos. Watched whole movies (h.264) without any slowdown whatsoever. Sorry to hear about your bad experiences, but i assure you they are not all faulty...
